The Secret To The Master Cleanse
Posted on Sep 17 2008 | Tagged as: Diet
Through my research into fasting, I stumbled upon the Master Cleanse diet, and I found it to be well viewed in the fasting world. Some of you may remember it as the same ‘diet’ Beyonce used to drop some weight for Dreamgirls .
Reports of other’s experiences were very encouraging to me and gave me an idea of what to expect. A few of the people who I spoke with about the master cleanse diet who had tried it did not have the discipline to get by the first two or three days. I’ve fasted in the past and never could last without eating at all as most fasts require. The master cleanse at least allows some nourishment (the drink which uses lemons is why it is also known as the lemonade diet.)
The Master Cleanse espouses a simple routine, however it isn’t exactly easy. The guidelines are simple, the will power necessary to come through is another thing altogether. Though I found a great book named the master cleanse secret that gives lots of tips & advice to make it much, much easier.
One thing boasted is the weight loss from the diet but that was never my main interest. I did it for the toxin cleansing benefits. I felt very tired and lazy lately and enough people have told me how much better they feel after a fast that I went for it again.
From what I’ve been reading the typical amount of time spent on the master cleanse diet is ten days, although it is not uncommon for people to stay on the cleanse for longer periods of time. I had no intention of going longer than 5 days as a trial run to see how I reacted. Considering I never made it past 2 days before that was quite an accomplishment.
Having a book full of master cleanse tips as my guide I was able to look up issues and find answers to questions that enabled me to stick with it. Just from reading it I had much more confidence in my prospect of success. That confidence translated into success.
Luckily I went to see my doctor for a check-up recently so the timing was good. I strongly urge anyone interested in trying any kind of fast to speak with their doctor first to make sure everything is OK before diving in.
The final verdict: I feel much better after the 5 days and I am considering doing it again. Next time I will shoot for the full ten days. One suggestion I can offer is to take it easy when trasnitioning back into eating (the secrets book gives excellent guidance on this.)
